New fallen snow reveals
histories, long hidden
behind the heavy growth
of brush & branches
& overgrown fields
laying fallow (forgotten).
Parallels ruts
led
to a stone foundation
slowly surrendering
to the forces
that appall permanence.
We call this history
(memory) measured
by the linear count
of night & day,
(later) to be assessed
for its significance,
its value to posterity.
…paddling ever onward! Derek Polzer
