My name is Lili Trenkova, and I operate Lili Trenkova Design, a regenerative landscape and interior design practice. I joined the Rewild NJ Consultant Network to partner with like-minded people committed to being responsible land stewards and restoring our relationships with the more-than-human world. Originally from Bulgaria, having lived in NYC for many years, I now reside in the woodlands of Sussex County, NJ, with my family. I’ve always had a special love for mountains, so I appreciate living close to High Point State Park and Stokes State Forest with all their habitats: from rugged slopes to lush forests, from serene lakes to thunderous waterfalls. I look forward to connecting with the Rewild NJ family!

Service Category: ecological design/wild landscaping/sustainable property management

“Hi my name is Jason Goldman and am the owner of Flower to the People, a garden design company that specializes in using native plants. I look at every site with an eye for wonder and an excitement to see what plants will thrive there! My favorite thing about NJ is the Diner! I think that’s what sets our state apart from the rest, every town practically has their own Diner and it’s always a solid experience. My favorite place to explore in NJ is the Delaware Water Gap. That’s where I saw my first porcupine! Rafting down the river is always a fun experience, and camping in that region has brought me closer to nature. I was excited to join Rewild NJ from the start. Over these last few years, I have heard from so many people that they have difficulty finding native plant landscapers and designers. They want to take action and use these wonderful plants, they just need a helping hand. I’m looking forward to Rewild NJ connecting native plant enthusiasts with the help they are seeking.”

Christine Black: Grow Native Gardens LLC, christine@grownativegardens.com, 609-321-4622, Grow Native Gardens, LLC – Restoring Biodiversity to Human Landscapes

Service Category: ecological design/wild landscaping/sustainable property management

My favorite thing about NJ is the diversity of ecosystems throughout the state. My favorite natural location in New Jersey is Pakim Pond in Brendan T. Byrne State Forest! I joined the network because I am on a mission to add native plants to as many landscapes as possible.  Being a part of the network helps me reach more people. Most of the environmental problems that face our world are things we have no control over as individuals. Changing how we manage our landscapes is the one thing every person can do to have a direct positive effect on the world we live in. Our native insects rely on native plants to feed their young. Native plant gardens are one way we can provide habitat for the creatures we share our world with. I provide native plant garden design and consultation services to help people add native plants to their existing landscapes and support more wildlife.

Service Category: ancestral knowledge/survival/bushcraft/lost ways

“New Jersey is part of Lenapehoking, the land of my ancestors. Not many people can say that they remain on the lands of the people that their ancestors have lived for thousands of years, and I take pride in being able to say that. I have a passion for educating and bringing back traditional and cultural acknowledgments to our people and our lands, which is why I am proud to be a part of Rewild NJ Education Network.”

Joe grew up in Camden County New Jersey with the woods right out his back door! Being able to immerse himself in nature at such a young age paved the way for his later work in conservation and wildlife management for several non-profits. Today, Joe is the owner and Lead Naturalist for South Jersey Wildlife Tours – an eco-tourism company that specializes in taking everyday folks, groups, and students out into the wilds of South Jersey while promoting wild spaces for people as well as our flora and fauna.”

“Jon Compton is the Executive Director of Center for Environmental Transformation located in Camden, New Jersey. CFET’s mission is to empower our community through education, collaboration, and advocacy to ensure a thriving future with clean air, clean water, and healthy food. Jon’s favorite element of New Jersey is the access to beaches and hiking the Delaware Water Gap Recreational Area. Jon is excited to join the Rewild NJ Education Network as “asphalt is just sad”- a truly important comment from a man rewilding our urban communities!”

Service Category: homesteading/permaculture/food systems

“As a New Jersey native, I have always been drawn to the wide array of plants and animal life that are found here.  From the sands of Cape May point to the mountainous regions of the Delaware water gap, New Jersey encompasses an amazing diversity of flora and fauna, the protection of which has served as the inspiration behind Red Oak Permaculture. With our large per capita human population, it is imperative that we implement environmental education, conserve wild spaces and apply ecologically friendly living practices in order to coexist with the natural world.  In joining with Rewild New Jersey, we are excited to be a part of a group that exemplifies these concepts so that they may become more of a mainstream option to the general population.  We at Red Oak Permaculture believe that in order for humanity to thrive in the face of the myriad of socio-political and environmental challenges before us, it is of absolute necessity to reconnect with nature, remember the teachings of the generations that came before us, and, indeed, rewild ourselves and our living spaces.”

Janet Goehner-Jacobs: Saddler’s Woods Conservation Association, janet@saddlerswoods.org, (856) 869-7372, Saddler’s Woods Conservation Association

Service Category: environmental/wildlife/sustainability education

I am very proud of the diversity of natural landscapes in NJ, from the highlands to the pinelands there are so many treasures to witness when you take the exits off the highways! My favorite natural place in NJ are the shore points and Cape May. I have many childhood memories of vacationing there and witnessing dolphins swimming, the monarch migrations, and endangered bird nesting sites. I joined ReWild NJ Network to both give and learn from others in our united goal of nurturing our natural landscapes. The work is important to me so that we can take tangible steps to heal our earth and foster the ambassadors of the natural world for generations to come.

“My favorite thing about New Jersey that it is close to everything that means the most to me. There are great farms which supply produce to the fantastic farmers markets in my area. There are wonderful restaurants with every kind of food you could possibly want. The arts and cultural scene are local as well as “just across the bridge to Philadelphia”. The state is progressive with its eye on sustainability and making the environment a healthier place to live. I joined Rewilding NJ Network because of my commitment to having a return to our natural state as much as possible from manicured lawns that don’t support nature and can harm it to native plants and gardens even in small yards and in the cities. Also, my personal issue is to get suburban towns to allow backyard hens in the suburbs providing families not only with eggs but great fertilizer. Combining hens with composting and growing our own veggies and herbs give us self-reliance. I focus on reintroducing native plants to support pollinators and make a positive impact on the environment.”
